The travel sketchbook February 2019 - morning workshop

Sunday, 03 February 2019 10.30am to Sunday, 03 February 2019 1.00pm

Venue: Art Gallery Society members lounge
Lecturer: Teacher - Sheila Posner

In this workshop, seasoned traveller and artist, Sheila Posner will introduce you to the concept of the travel sketchbook as a fun and spontaneous way of recording images and experiences.

Throughout history, many artists have documented their journeys, made notes and tested out ideas in their small sketchbooks. A fun and personal way to enhance a trip, or just your everyday experiences.

Starting with a theme of interiors, you will experiment with water based pens and watercolour using line and wash plus the use of words, to enhance your drawings.
Sheila will show examples of her sketchbooks and then demonstrate the use of materials before embarking on your own sketchbook pages.
Visual material of a variety of interiors will be provided.

Bring a watercolour sketchbook (A5 or smaller is ideal). All other materials provided. Reference images will be available to use on the day. You are welcome to bring your own travel snaps or magazine/books, etc.

Sheila Posner is a practising artist who works in a variety of media. For the past 6 years she has been travelling the world as an art instructor on cruise ships.
