Drawing workshops: Unframed

In this series of four, two hour workshops with artist Michelle Hiscock, learn a variety of pencil drawing techniques, including the subtle art of tonal rendering, inspired by the art of much-loved Australian artist Lloyd Rees.

You’ll meet in the Members Lounge at 10.15am then study prints and drawings by Rees from the Art Gallery of New South Wales collection, up close and unframed, in the study room at the Art Gallery.

An expert in the history of painting techniques, Michelle Hiscock has been a painting lecturer at the National Art School in Sydney since 1998.

The workshop is limited to eight people.

Materials: please bring an A3 sketch pad and a range of graded lead pencils and a kneadable eraser. Please note – pencils ONLY are allowed in the space.

Four workshops - Tuesday 11, 18 & 25 Oct, and 1 Nov 2022.

10.30am - Workshop will commence in the Prints, Drawings and Photographs Study Room, lower lower level 2
