Join us for two curator-led private tours on this special edition Coffee Tour. Enjoy the Margel Hinder: Modern in Motion exhibition at AGNSW followed by an exploration of the artists’ work at the Reserve Bank of Australia.
Margel Hinder: Modern in Motion is the first dedicated retrospective of one of the most important and dynamic, yet underrated, Australian sculptors of the 20th century. The exhibition, presented in collaboration with Heide Museum of Modern Art in Melbourne, showcases an arresting array of sculptures by Margel Hinder (1905 – 95) produced over five decades of her career.
Co-curator Denise Mimmocchi will guide Members through this retrospective which includes major sculptures from public and private collections, immersive representations of public sculptures, maquettes, drawings and archival photographs.
After a short walk to the Reserve Bank of Australia, John Murphy and Guy Betts, Reserve Bank of Australia Curators and Reserve Bank of Australia Museum team, will provide insight into the choice of Margel Hinder’s work displayed on the site, its relationship to the building and its place in Hinder’s career.
Morning tea will be served at the Reserve Bank of Australia after the tour.
Please arrive a few minutes before your scheduled tour as the tour will commence on time.
Bookings are essential. There will be no walk-up ticket sales on the day. Please note, this tour includes a ten-minute walk across the Domain - from the AGNSW to the Reserve Bank of Australia at Martin Place (where the tour will conclude).
