How has restoration practice evolved in architecture through the twentieth century, and why is restoring a modern building so difficult to imagine? Moving from International modernism of the 50’s to mid-century modern homes in Australia, this lecture will examine some of the impacts of the key charters for historic preservation and restoration that emerged at the time - and that continue to shape debates on how we value our built history today.
