Embroidery workshop: Cherry Blossom

17 November 2019 - 17 November 2019 10.30am - 3.30pm
Art Gallery Society members lounge
A cherry blossom, called sakura in Japan, is a symbolic flower of the spring, a time of renewal, and the fleeting nature of life. The fully bloomed cherry blossoms are celebrating and welcoming a brand-new start, bursting with possibilities and optimism.
Textile artist and designer Margaret Daszkiewicz will teach you how to embroider cherry blossom flowers that can be used to embellish garments, bags or any textile. You will be provided with a pattern, fabric, thread and embroidery hoop and instructions on how to make a French knot, buttonhole, stem stitch and fishbone stitch and then apply them to create flowers and branches.

This is an ideal workshop for anyone with basic experience in hand embroidery and would like to explore working with texture and dimension.
