Famous styles and makers

Pottery and porcelain are among the oldest and popular forms of decorative art in Japan. Each of the 47 Japanese prefectures produce ceramics, with famous varieties including Imari ware, Mino ware and Seto ware. Learn about ceramics used in Japanese tea ceremony as well as ceramics exported to great demand to the palaces and grand houses of Europe in the 17th century.
