Puglia and the art of assimilation

Thursday, 21 February 2019 10.30am to Thursday, 21 February 2019 11.30am

Venue: Domain Theatre
Lecturer: Steven Miller

Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Normans, Swabians, French and Spaniards have all shaped the art and culture Puglia, one of the most fascinating and beautiful provinces of southern Italy. The region is known for its highly decorative Leccese Baroque style, which dominated art and architecture from the 16th to the 18th centuries. But the artistic heritage of this region is much richer and more diverse, as Steven Miller will guide you through time and landscape, from celebrated Greek Apulian vase paintings to the vibrant contemporary art scene in the coastal capital Bari.
