From the 15th century, European nations began to expand their territory to the far flung reaches of the globe. Paralleling the geographic expansion was an expansion in thinking with subsequent scientific discoveries, religious upheavals and the emergence of the idea of “enlightenment”. Examine how these trends were reflected in the dynamic artistic styles of the time – Baroque and Rococo. Learn how to recognize these styles.
