This lecture will highlight the distinctive contributions that artists Julian Ashton, A Henry Fullwood and Frank Mahony made to establishing Sydney as the hub of Australia’s settler-colonial art movement, through their contributions not only as painters and illustrators but as reformers seeking to improve the status of their profession.
